Berom community North America – Atlanta Convention 2019
Friday Night Session

Night Session Saturday
After the convention!
Without a doubt, the results from last weekend’s convention in Atlanta surpassed our expectations. When the idea first occurred to me last year, I never would have imagined that the occasion would be graced by our able BECO president Dr. Gyang Dudu and his entourage. Then came felicitations from Gbong Gwom Jos, His royal Highness Dr.Gyang Buba, Senator I.D Gyang, Representative DR Simon Mwadkwon, Representative Dachung Bagos, The Berom Women Development Association (BWEDA) and a host of others. Reading the comments of my brothers and sisters on social media, it was obvious that the convention brought hope to our people back home. I immediately realized that a fire had been ignited, and I made a promise to myself never to let this fire burn out.
The speeches presented during the convention were only the tip of the iceberg as my eyes were opened to the power that the Berom women have in the development of the Beromland and how our youths should not be relegated but rather given opportunities that will enable them to create a better tomorrow. I also gained insight into the problems that confront us as a people. As a diasporan, I understood the role that I play in the development of the Beromland.
The food was amazing, as we exclusively ate only Berom food, so you could imagine how our teeth looked after eating “nama diara”. We did not mind because we were determined to showcase our food/culture to everyone, including the hotel staff. The dancing section was spectacular. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The members of Berom Community North America were exceptional too.
Our dream as an organization is to connect with other Berom sons and daughters all over the world for a common goal of impacting our people positively. Hence, I want to assure our people that we are with you and feel your pain and we promise to be your voice other here. I appeal to you to never let the problems confronting us now to define who we are as a people, but to unite us.
I am already looking forward to our next convention in Boston 2021. Until then, get out of your comfort zone and become a positive force for the Berom nation.
Thanks.
